"We completed a budget which highlighted where Shaun needed to make changes to his spending. He was quite shocked at the budget after seeing it all written down."
One of our Employability and Digital Inclusion Coaches has been working with Shaun for some time, after he was referred to her for help increasing his motivation, aspirations, obtaining job-specific skills and experience, and to reduce financial and digital barriers to employment. Shaun had been unemployed for several months and was referred to ROAD largely for financial advice. Of her work with Shaun, Catherine says: “We completed a budget which highlighted where Shaun needed to make changes to his spending. He was quite shocked at the budget after seeing it all written down. Shaun was asked if there was anything else he would like support with, and was looking for administration-related jobs, but didn’t have the relevant qualifications. I mentioned a training provider that Cornforth had been working with that offered free distance learning courses, with Business Administration being one of them, and Shaun jumped at the chance to enrol onto the course. I also recommended that Shaun undertake some volunteering as well to help his progression. Shaun secured some volunteering hours with NEPACS which has really helped him and his confidence has grown. He has now moved on to complete his Level 2 Functional Skills and gained paid employment with a well known super market as a Customer Service Advisor.” Well done to Shaun!
